This month, we are profiling one of our favorite budtenders, who brings fiery commitment and heart to her wellness journey. Megan, or Motivational Megan as she’s known on Instagram, calls her budtender gig at TruBliss Organics the “best job I’ve ever had.”
Seeing as how she’s able to blend her cannabis knowledge and her experience as a nutrition, workout and exercise coach into helping people heal through plant medicine, it certainly looks like a perfect match.
Just over a year ago, Megan left an emotionally damaging relationship and moved to Phoenix in order to heal. “I was at my worst self, and I would do whatever it took to get to the best version of myself that I could be. I’m still working toward that today,” she said. Megan prides herself on her fitness journey, as she is now down 60 pounds from where she started last year, but knows weight alone isn’t an adequate indicator of proper health.
While she used to overuse cannabis to make herself numb from seemingly inescapable emotional, physical, and spiritual pain, she now uses far less far more intentionally with amazing results. She thanks Apollo Live Resin pods and Kush Cash for helping with that, noting that the full-spectrum options creating the entourage effect provide her with much of the euphoria and relaxation she needs.
“I don’t feel that cannabis makes me lazy, it motivates me. We all have goals, that’s what motivates us. You just have to stick to it,” she said, noting that working out in public triggers her social anxiety. “I wear confident outfits on purpose, to get my mental state into that person I want to be in the future. If you want to be that person…you have to put yourself in their shoes.”
Megan, who consistently ranks highly in monthly Item 9 Labs sold to patients, counts Jack Herer and OG Limekiller among her favorite strains. She prefers low THC, high CBD/CBG strains pre-workout and high THC, low CBD/CBG strains after.
“Apollo pods give me a body high after my workout that make me not really need to smoke 10-15 bowls or 6-7 dabs. I just use my pod before and after my workout and I’m good,” she said.
But don’t think Megan has achieved what has through crash dieting or denying herself — she still munches on cheeseburgers and burritos.
“The only way to lose weight is to burn more calories than you’re consuming. Yes, you have to work out, but you don’t need to go crazy,” she said. “You can still eat the foods you like, that’s the only way you’re going to remain happy. Just don’t overdo it.”
For those looking to replicate her journey, Megan recommends a few things: track your progress, take pictures of yourself, and don’t be afraid to tell the world that cannabis influences you to work out.
“Don’t give up on yourself,” she said. “I know it gets really hard, [but] the next best version of yourself is on the other side of the struggle you’re going through.”
