Interested in learning cannabis cultivation from the ground up? A chance to get your foot in the door in the industry? Item 9 Labs is looking for Trim Technicians. A Trim Technician is primarily responsible for the efficiency and quality of the marijuana plant trimming of in preparation for distribution. This position will perform the trimming (manicuring) operations of the Company including; hand trimming, machine trimming, and live plant manicuring. Company follows healthcare management model, operating under the highest standards of professionalism.

Hours: M-F 8:00AM – 4:00PM

Pay: Hourly at $11.00/Hr and after 90 days with the company you will be eligible for full coverage benefits + automatically move up to $12.50

  • Maintain a clean and organized work environment.
  • Hand trim guard and/or sugar leaves from medical marijuana plants before the drying process using sheers, scissors etc
  • Operate a trimming machine to remove guard and/or sugar leaves from medical marijuana
  • Manicure live medical marijuana plants to encourage better growth
  • Breakdown flowers off of stem and stalk of plant in order to separate unusable waste from useable product; employee must track the amount of unusable waste for each plant/batch.
  • After breakdown of plant, employee must identify and separate fan leaves, stems and sugar leaves on the flower.
  • Employee must account for each by-product type processed off the flower; adding stems and fan leaves to “waste” for proper tracking and disposal by managers and trim/sugar leaves to “useable by-product” (trim) to the MIP.
  • Employee must exhibit competency in basic organizational, tracking and communication skills.
  • Take instructions and help out on tasks delegated by master and assistant growers
  • Work in a quick and efficient manner
  • Assure daily compliance with Company policies including but not limited to; state/local regulation compliance, security protocols, access protocols, dress code, and work schedules.
  • Responsible for tracking the batches that they trim including the final finished product, the usable by-product amount (trim), and the un-usable by-product (waste) according to company policy and practices, as well as state, local and MED laws and regulations.
  • Employee must exhibit personal hygiene and follow the health guidelines set forth by the state while processing patient medicine
  • Must attend all training sessions assigned to this position
  • May be called on to perform packaging duties or special projects as needed


  • High school diploma or General Education Diploma (GED)
  • Must stay current and adhere to all policy and regulations of the Arizona Medical Marijuana Program
  • Must be 21 years of age
  • Must be able to obtain a State issued agent card
  • Must not have been convicted of any felony offense.
  • Ability to work within a closely supervised environment
  • Works in a timely manner and strives to increase productivity.
  • Knowledge and familiarity with Cannabis
  • Solid math skills, language, and reasoning skills.
  • Basic weights and measurement skills, ability to operate a digital scale.
  • Experience in marijuana growing, cultivating, and trimming preferred.

Physical Demands:

  • Ability to stand on feet or sit for extended periods of time.
  • Ability to have extended cannabis exposure, with no adverse physical reaction
  • Ability to use repetitive use of hands, wrists and forearms.
  • Ability to see, hear, speak and write English clearly in order to communicate effectively with employees and visitors.
  • Fine visual acuity with the ability to adjust focus to inspect closely, ability to see color.
